AcrySof® ReSTOR® Lens - At Last! An Opportunity for Visual Freedom
For most cataract patients, life without reading glasses or bifocals is something they either experienced before their 40's or they just dreamed about for most of their lives. But today, The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is turning those dreams into reality with its revolutionary lens technology, which is designed to allow patients to see clearly at all distances without bifocals or reading glasses. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is now available and delivers a high level of glasses-free vision.

Presbyopia (after the age of 40), makes it difficult to focus on close objects. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is a breakthrough intraocular lens (IOL) that can provide patients a full range of vision -- near through distance -- and greatly reduce their reliance on reading glasses or bifocals. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is an artificial lens used in cataract surgery for patients with and without presbyopia.

AcrySof Toric Lens for Astigmatism
Many people are born with Astigmatism, or their eye is not completely round in shape. This causes distortion of vision, and the need for thicker glasses if not corrected at the time of catract surgery. A few years ago, we did not have a lens option that would correct for astigmstism. But, now with the AcrySof Toric lens, we can correct astigmatism at the time of surgery by implanting this lens. This lens allows for better, crisper vision without glaases than the older "Traditional" monofocal lenses allow.

AcrySof Monofocal Lens
The AcrySof Monofocal lens is a standard lens that has been around for some time, and is the type of lens that most patients had implanted prior to the newer technology lens coming into existence. There is still a role for this lens in todays practice, and it is still a very good lens. Not everyone is a good candidate for the ReStor lens, and not everyone has astigmatism and needs the Toric lens. 50% of the lenses we use today are still Monofocal lenses that correct vision for distance only. The drawback to this lens is it does not correct for astigmatism and it does not correct near vision, so reading glasses will still be required.
